Building the Water Workforce of Tomorrow: Strategies that Deliver Results and Impact is a new interactive learning module and accompanying implementation workbook designed to help water utilities, water sector employers, and their partners strengthen workforce development efforts in their communities.

Designed from real-world experiences and lessons learned through the Alliance’s Water Equity Network Workforce Development Taskforce, these resources provide a framework for addressing workforce challenges and developing strategies that meet both employer and community needs. This online course includes two resources:

Interactive Online Guide

The interactive online module is an accessible starting point designed to be completed in approximately four hours. It includes an introduction and four lessons, providing participants with insights and tools to inform their organization’s workforce development efforts.

Implementation Workbook

For organizations ready to develop a tailored workforce development strategy, the accompanying editable workbook provides a structured framework that can be completed collaboratively with a team over approximately 12-18 months. The workbook guides teams through assessing workforce challenges, identifying existing resources and opportunities, and developing solutions.

Participants are encouraged to begin with the online module for background and information before diving into the workbook’s activities and prompts.
