The 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law promises over $50 billion in national water infrastructure investments. These funds are an opportunity to transform water infrastructure across the country, improving both public health and the environment. But accessing these funds can be challenging—particularly for the communities that need them most.
As a technical assistance provider, the Alliance helps underserved communities plan for, obtain, and implement federal funds in a way that furthers equity and delivers long-term benefits. While our work varies depending on each community’s distinct water infrastructure needs and challenges, we strive to meaningfully and holistically engage the communities we work with, develop comprehensive plans, and pursue environmental justice.
The US Water Alliance is also part of the EPA’s Community Solutions Team Pilot Project to help communities access resources to apply for federal water infrastructure funding. Through this work, the Alliance led a video storytelling project to document the approach, lessons learned from the pilot, and community stories that emerged throughout the process.
