The Value of Water Campaign and the US Water Alliance are excited to announce the ninth annual “Imagine a Day Without Water” National Day of Action—a community-powered campaign set to take place on October 19, 2023. This initiative aims to unite people across the nation in recognizing the pivotal role that water plays in our daily lives and advocating for continued investment in our collective water future.
Water is an essential force that often goes unnoticed in our bustling lives. It’s the resource that fuels our mornings, quenches our thirst, and sustains our ecosystems. Imagine waking up one day and not having access to clean, running water—that’s the brutal reality for more than two million Americans today. Imagine a Day Without Water exists to remind us about the importance of water—and of the critical systems and people that keep it flowing through our communities.
“We are calling upon our fellow water advocates, local community leaders, and policymakers to join us in uplifting this important moment,” says Christy Harowski, Director of the Value of Water Campaign. “We hope to inspire action and help people understand that water isn’t just a resource; it’s a lifeline that fuels our health, economies, communities, and well-being. We all need to be invested in the future of water—Imagine a Day offers folks a chance to step up and get involved in the conversation.”
As October 19, 2023, approaches, the “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign invites individuals, communities, organizations, and policymakers to unite under a common goal: to recognize, value, and safeguard water for all. Take part in the festivities virtually—spreading the word on social media using the hashtag #ValueWater—or in person at local events and gatherings.
