One Water Summit® is the nation’s premier gathering of diverse water leaders in the country. Since 2016, One Water Summit® has sparked innovation by creating unique spaces for collaboration—centered around timely water challenges and solutions—through engaging plenaries and workshops, dynamic learning labs and site-visits, and plenty of networking time between individuals, organizations, and delegations.

Save the Date for One Water Summit® 2027

A note from Mami Hara, US Water Alliance CEO, and Ernest Lau, P.E., Honolulu Board of Water Supply Manager and Chief Engineer:

We are honored to share that One Water Summit® will be held in Hawaiʻi in November 2027. This gathering has been several years in the making, building on conversations and collaboration with our partners in Hawaiʻi about bringing the Summit experience and the broader One Water network to the island of Oʻahu.

We want to be clear about what this means. Hawaiʻi is an incredible place, and we have the great privilege of being welcomed by our partners who are committed to innovative and transformative work in water. What they are inviting us to experience is something remarkable: a way of understanding and valuing our precious wai (water) as alive, rooted in culture, and collectively managed through practices of One Water planning and stewardship that have existed here for centuries.

This thinking is reflected in our theme for this year: E Ola I Ka Wai!, “Life Through Water,” co-created with our partners in Hawaiʻi. It informs our vision of this gathering, as the pilina (relationship) that will be established through a call to action to reimagine how we value, govern, and plan for water in our own communities.

This gathering asks something of all of us. Of our network: humility, curiosity, and a willingness to be changed by what you see and learn here. Of our Hawaiʻi partners: the generosity of spirit to open this space and share protocol and knowledge. This is something we do not take lightly, especially in a place where tourism fatigue, indigenous rights, and the contested nature of water itself are lived realities.

Our aim in bringing Summit to Hawaiʻi is based on reciprocity. This requires real collaboration, care practiced in both directions, and programming that allows ideas to move in both directions. Exploring how Hawaiʻi’s understanding of water as a vital part of abundance and community prosperity can teach others about policies and stewardship, and what work being done elsewhere might offer Hawaiʻi partners in return.

Themes will highlight:

  • Land & Water Management
  • Water as Wealth & Community Abundance
  • Policy & Governance
  • Stewardship
  • Equity
  • Partnership & Teamwork

We will be sharing more details, including the full program, educational resources for attendees, and ways to prepare before you arrive, in the coming months. For now, we encourage you to save the date for this unique and special opportunity.
