- If you haven’t already, don’t forget to register to vote in your state! And in November, be sure to vote for candidates and bills that support funding for water.

3. Support your Water Workforce
- If you’re exploring new career opportunities, visit your local water utility’s website for current openings or browse water jobs nationally.
- If you work with a utility, consider checking out the US Water Alliance’s resources for building a more equitable water workforce.
4. Organize an Event
- From hosting a trivia night at a local brewery to encouraging a student art contest in your classroom, help your community appreciate all the ways that water connects us, nourishes us, and brings us joy in a fun and engaging way. The options are endless!
- If you’re an educator, use our learning tools and educational materials to help teach how water is reliably delivered and safely removed from homes.
- For any event, you can print or display one of the “My Drop in the Bucket” template options and resize it to fit your needs.

5. Be a Water Warrior
- Advocate for good water policy in your community by writing an email and sending it to your local officials using our email template.
6. Make Policy Waves in Your Community
- If you’re a local official, consider passing a resolution or proclamation in recognition of Imagine a Day Without Water using our templates.
7. Put Your Drop in the Bucket
- Donate to a local community-based organization that supports sustainable water management in your area.
- To find the right organization, look for options that address the most pressing water issues in your community (whether it be affordability, access, drought, flooding, aging pipes, pollution, etc.) and center equity, justice, community voices, and environmental health.
8. Host or Take a Water Facility Tour
- If you’re a water utility, set up a tour or open house to invite residents to learn about protecting the local environment, key water projects currently underway, and the water treatment process.
- If you’re a resident, contact your local utility to see about taking a tour or look up your utility online to see if a virtual tour exists.

- Help build the movement by using our template to write a blog post to be shared online or with a local news outlet.
