Shivaji Deshmukh

Shivaji Deshmukh is a licensed engineer who serves as the General Manager of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) with over 20 years of experience in the water and wastewater industry. Metropolitan is a cooperative of 26 member agencies and provides about half of the water used by nearly 19 million people in six Southern California counties. Before joining Metropolitan, Mr. Deshmukh served as General Manager of Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) for 7 years. Prior to that, he served as Assistant General Manager at the West Basin Municipal Water District and as Program Manager at the Orange County Water District. In his role, he oversaw the design, construction, and operation of one of the state’s first and largest recycled water projects, the Groundwater Replenishment System in Orange County.
