Water Equity Clearinghouse

Green Muslims

Washington D.C.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Green Muslims is a nonprofit organization that strives to be a source of spiritually-inspired environmental education in the Islamic community. The organization seeks to promote environmental awareness, scriptures that relate to the environment, and the duty to protect the Earth.

The organization spearheads initiatives in three areas: building and sharing knowledge, community action, and capacity building/leadership development.

Efforts to Advance Water Equity

Each year, the organization hosts a youth outdoor education program to inspire Muslim youth to grow closer to Allah through a connection with environmental conservation and stewardship. This year’s program will involve interactive sessions that focus on how to conserve water, restore water quality, and prevent litter pollution in Maryland communities.

Green Muslims also supports events, organizations, and movements that protect the most vulnerable communities in the face of climate change, build economies that work for the people and the planet, promote clean air and water, and address food inequality and access issues.
