Utility Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Cohort
Water use and management are estimated to be responsible for up to 10 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Through our Climate Action program, the US Water Alliance convenes the Utility Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Cohort, a group of US-based water utilities that are using One Water as a strategic pathway to mitigate climate change by sharing best practices, developing innovative solutions, and accelerating the “Race to Zero” emissions campaign in the water sector.
How we work
Through a partnership between the US Water Alliance, the Danish Water and Wastewater Association, and The Embassy of Denmark in Washington, DC, the Utility GHG Reduction Cohort engages in transatlantic, cross-cultural learning on climate mitigation strategies across water management and operations.
Dive into the Net Zero Fundamentals
The Net Zero Fundamentals series is a practical resource for water and wastewater utilities committed to climate leadership. By sharing real-world examples and clear implementation guidance on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while improving operations and financial performance, this series helps utilities embed climate action across their strategy, culture, and core operations.
