Mikelle Benfield is the Climate Action Program Coordinator at the US Water Alliance, a national nonprofit organization advancing policies and programs that build a sustainable water future for all. She provides programmatic support to both the Climate Action and the Equitable Infrastructure teams. Prior to joining the Alliance, Mikelle had six years of experience in the environmental nonprofit sector, honing her skills in outreach and communications, project management, and stakeholder collaboration to deliver programming for communities in New York City, Middle Tennessee, and nationally. Along with her experience, Mikelle brings an academic background in climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction with a Master’s in Geography of Environmental Risk and Human Security from United Nations University and a bachelor’s in geography from The Pennsylvania State University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time along Nashville’s waterways and playing euphonium in the local community concert band.
