Water is everywhere and it influences everything. While it supports our lives, it also underlies challenges we face. From drought and pollution, to animal extinction and inadequate clean water supply, water’s vital nature also puts it at the fore of many issues across the globe.

National Geographic’s special issue Water, takes a look across the globe at various problems and solutions in the water world. Will we face a freshwater crisis in 2050? How might the world be transformed if the millions of people without immediate access to clean, safe water were provided a quick and easy source? Are we doing enough to stave off water pollution? Water may seem simple, but it is truly anything but.
